The Almighty Allah says in the holly book “translated to English”: Indeed, there is a lesson for you in grazing livestock. We give you drink from what is in their bellies – between excretion and blood – pure milk, palatable to drinkers (Surat Alnahal, Verse 38).
Undoubtedly, the veterinary medicine is one of the noble human professions as it focuses on two main aspects: firstly, is the preservation and protection of animals from infectious diseases, and secondly, is alleviating human suffering and improving the community health and well-being by preventing the spread of transmissible diseases.
Veterinarians are the first line of defense protect the community, indirectly from diseases by preserving animals’ lives in general and maintain healthy livestock’s products (the edible and worn ones) such as lather, meat, and dairy products.. It is well known how these animals’ products are important, as they are involved in the principal daily meals.
Indeed, there are more than 1,415 known pathogens affect humans’ health, 61% of them are zoonotic diseases, most of which are transmitted through animals’ products. Overall, the responsibilities assigned on the sholder of the veterinarians and their role in the community through many aspects related to the animals’ health and welfare.
Finally, I am proud to be the director of such a distinguished scientific institution and I am inspired daily by the work and achievements of my colleagues.
